Graduation 2008 - Glen Leven Presbyterian Day School and Pre-Kindergarten

Another commencement we attended this spring was our second year in a row of pre-school graduation! It was a great program with some singing and walking down the aisle and some great baked goods.

We are very proud of Trip and Will and are so thankful that they were able to attend Glen Leven. The teachers there have been diligent and consistent with their care and training of all the children to be kind to each other and to be independent and t0 prepare to be in classrooms for learning. Our kids have been so happy at this school. There has been lots of great art, fun friends, good habits learned and many many parties!!

We walked past this bench swing every day to go in and out of school. A few times we used this swing to console someone who was having a hard time. I do remember Will cried a bit those first days in August of 2006 when he began (at two and a half!)....thank goodness for Ms. Sherry and Ms. Ruth for helping him through. Look at him now!

From 'To A Young Son' by Julia Johnson Davis

In your face I sometimes see
Shadowings of the man to be,
And eager, dream of what my son
Will be in twenty years and one.

But when you are to manhood grown
And all your manhood ways are known,
Then shall I, wistful, try to trace
The child you once were in your face?

MY LITTLE ONE - By Tennessee Williams

My little one whose tongue is dumb, whose fingers cannot hold to things, who is so mercilessly young, he leaps upon the instant things, I hold him not.

Indeed, who could? He runs into the burning wood. Follow, follow if you can! He will come out grown to a man and not remember whom he kissed, who caught him by the slender wrist and bound him by a tender yoke which, understanding not, he broke.

Poem

We are so very glad that you are happy...
long may you keep so, my dear boy...
May you go on as well
as you have begun.
